DIA’s Service Innovation Lab closes

Service Innovation Lab closes as DIA takes a more system-wide approach to supporting and accelerating delivery of integrated services across government agencies.

Improving support for integrated services

The Department of Internal Affairs last year announced formation of its Digital Public Service branch. This move provides an operational structure that supports the Government’s new Strategy for a Digital Public Service.

As part of this, the Service Innovation Lab, which supported agencies over the last three years to prototype integrated services, will close 30 June. The innovative ways of working and tools prototyped by the Lab team will continue to be used to support the integrated services work now taking place inside DIA and across other government agencies. Work being undertaken in the Lab has been transitioned to the agencies leading that work.

DIA’s Digital Public Service branch will continue to support agencies without in-house service designers and will also facilitate the development of integrated services where possible.

Other DPS branch staff will be available to help agencies as they develop their digital strategies, investment plans and work through privacy considerations.

The DPS branch will start engaging with other government agencies soon to explore ways of accelerating delivery of integrated services at a system-wide level.
