Govt.nz wins 2017 WriteMark Plain English Award

Govt.nz has scooped the 2017 WriteMark best Plain English website award. This is the second time Govt.nz has received the award, after winning it in 2015.

Govt.nz sets out to make it easier for people to find and use Government services. It brings together information from across Government and NGOs under the topics that people search for such as:

The awards are organised by the WriteMark Plain English Awards Trust and are held annually to honour organisations that help raise the bar for clear communication. 47 organisations from throughout New Zealand entered this year.

In their award commendation the judges confirmed that Govt.nz was the clear and unanimous winner, highlighting “the excellent job the site does of organising a vast amount of information, much of it complex… You’ve put in the work – testing and improving – and it shows."

International research is clear that to create an inclusive digital experience, we need to make interfaces simple and accessible, and write to a reading age of 12.
