The Government Chief Digital Officer (GCDO) worked with Te Kawa Mataaho Public Service Commission and the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment on a work programme to improve government’s payroll systems.

Digital Government Partnership Innovation Fund

The Digital Government Partnership (DGP) Innovation Fund was a $5 million contestable fund that invested in digital and data innovation in the public sector.

Minister for the Digital Economy and Communications

This portfolio was created in 2020.

Government functional leads

Functional leads are charged with developing and improving a designated area across government. The roles are delegated to specific chief executives by the Public Service Commissioner.

Digital Government Leadership Group

This is a partnership of agencies from across the public service that support the goal of a coherent, all-of-government digital system.

Digital Executive Board

The Digital Executive Board oversees the implementation of the Digital Strategy for Aotearoa and its Action Plan.

Open Government Partnership

The Open Government Partnership is an international initiative where signatory countries work to be more open, accountable and responsive to citizens. Using new technologies is a part of this.

International Open Data Charter

Adopting the charter reinforces NZ's commitment to open data. It gives government agencies a set of principles and actions for accelerating the release of open government data.

The Digital Nations

Digital Nations, or DN, is a network of the world’s most advanced digital nations with a shared goal of harnessing digital technology and new ways of working to improve citizens’ lives.

OECD E-Leaders

This working party for the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) is made up of senior digital government officials.

Advice, guidance and requesting support for critical digital services

A working group has been set up to support government organisations to maintain critical digital services to the public during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Government ICT Prioritisation Framework during COVID-19

The GCDO and MBIE have developed a framework to make sure constrained ICT resources go to support government organisations and services where they are needed most.

Remote working

Guidance to support government organisations to enable remote working, including digital considerations for devices, connectivity, access to tools, systems and information, and security, as well as a summary list of considerations to assess remote readiness.
