Better for Business in conjunction with the Office of the GCDO (Government Chief Digital Officer) is hosting an ‘All of Government’ showcase to demonstrate initiatives where government agencies are working collectively to design and deliver easy and seamless services to businesses and/or citizens.
About the Showcase
The theme for the showcase is “Working together as one: Government delivering easy and seamless services” to make it easier for people to engage with government services. The visual impact of the showcase will include life-size human cardboard cut-outs who will carry a pain point speech bubble — these represent the key pain points businesses and citizens have in their dealings with government (which are underpinned by extensive research).
Services and initiatives at the Showcase
Some of the initiatives on display include:
- Better for Business Digital Assistant Artificial Intelligence prototype
- Business Connect
- DIA’s Smart Start and End of Life Services
- the R+D Tax Incentive initiative.
There will be a business path and a citizen path (which cross over). Each initiative featured is an example of cross-agency collaboration, and either provides a current solution to a business or citizen pain point; or aims to remedy a pain point in the near future (and more).
Also exhibiting are some of New Zealand’s Innovation labs including:
- Service Innovation Lab
- Auckland Co-Design Lab
- Lightning Lab.

About Better for Business
The Better for Business (B4B) programme plays a key role in improving the experience businesses have when dealing with government. The role of B4B is to champion the needs of business customers, when they are engaging and interacting with government, from a cross agency perspective. This is achieved by understanding the broad ecosystem businesses work within and the interrelationships between government agencies as businesses seek to achieve specific outcomes. B4B represents 10 government agencies.
Better for Business aims to make it easier and more seamless for businesses to deal with government by coordinating agencies and services around business outcomes.
About the GCDO
The Government Chief Digital Officer (GCDO) is the government functional lead for digital services, and works with agencies on supporting and leading digital transformation of government to support provision of Government services and information for individuals, business and organisations.
